1000 Foot Tree – Winner!

1000 Foot Tree Winner of Christmas Tree Competition at Lights in the Heights 2014

In December my family and I won a competition to decorate a Christmas Tree for a Christmas extravaganza at out church. It was for an annual event, Lights in the Heights, that saw nearly 10,000 come through and visit our church in Hepburn Heights. The fun lasts for over a week and has all the fun activities like Christmas Tree Wonderland, Santa’s workshop, Family Funville, Christmas movie, Photo-booths and a laser light display.

For our winning entry, I took photos of individual feet from all the people in our church. On any Sunday there around 250 – 500 people. It took two Sundays to get enough photos. We then cut out each foot photo and then decorated our tree. Hence, the 1000 foot tree!

A few things were learnt form doing this exercise…

1. No one wears the same shoes as anyone else…
2. Some people are very embarrassed by their feet…
3. You can easily spot your own feet and the feet of people you know …
4. I now recognise more people in my church from, you guessed it! From their… smiles!

Seniors Art Class

Seniors Art Class

Joondalup Art Gallery hosted several fews workshops for Seniors in November 2014. I was fortunate to teach the ‘Painting with Acrylics’ class, from still life to a vast range of artistic experience. Some have paintings all over the city others have never painted!
The result – a great day and some beautiful Christmas gift ideas! In addition, the realisation that I should be teaching – I and hopefully the participants have a great time!

Plein Air Class – Neil Hawkins Park

Platinum Adventure Plein Air Class

18 October 2014
It was a day of a massive hail storm, but before the drama began, a Plein Air class was held at Neil Hawkins Park for the Platinum Adventure Seniors Group. Sixteen people enjoyed the day, learning basic skills such as composition, tone, and painting technique.
Many of these people had never painted, so although many didn’t get finished there and then, they had the equipment to finish at a later time. There was no rain for the class – only beautiful sunshine through some clouds.

Documentary / Artist in Residence

September 2014
Artist in Residence Joondalup Art Gallery 23-26 September 2014.
The Kimberly Exhibition was on the following week, so I decided to do two paintings in a week of Artist in Residence at JAG (Joondalup Art Gallery).
While I was there, my daughter Zoe Ingate made a documentary on me for her course at TAFE. You can view it here (when we get it).
During the week I was able to complete Cable Beach (Acrylic, Oil on Canvas) and Tidal Pull (Oil on Linen). These two paintings were exhibited in The Kimberly Exhibition.

Cable Beach, has since been auctioned at a fundraiser for The Sea Shepard in Fremantle (November 2014). It made an impressive $950.

Tidal Pull, was also exhibited at Atwell Gallery for another Kimberly Exhibition in February 2015.
